Capturing creativity

“My art journal is a place to try out different ideas and techniques. If it doesn’t work, simply turn the page and start again.”

I come from a long line of creative women who were really good at making things by hand. My grandmother, Merle Wood, was a milliner, my mother, Laraine Lash, has always been expert at sewing, and when I was a child she won an award for a piece of weaving she had created on the massive floor loom in the family room of our home. As for me, I tend to create collections of things using fabric, paper and stitching – they sometimes end up as a one-off handmade book…
